The saga ongoing at Blackburn Rovers, another club being raped in front of the supporteres eyes, justifies everything said inthis article about teh failure ofhte Leagues 'fit and proper' test. The owners lie and lie again about putting in investment whilst asset stripping the clubs. Only the supporters lose it seems, and teh League doesn't give a damn about them

Thanks, SJ.

Agreed, the 10 points are pretty irrelevant in the grand scheme of things, though the media tend to give it more prominence than it warrants - as you suggest, the real news of yesterday is the ability to challenge BC now that AA's control has been lessened.

The main creditor at Pompey cares nothing about points deduction, yet it is his continued campaign to get as much money from the club as possible that is at the root of its financial problems. The 10 points in this case does nothing but give hope to Doncaster, Coventry and Forest - all clubs with their own financial question marks. Now there is a serious chance of challenging him.
As to Pompey fans - we don't care where we end up. We just want our club run for the football and the fans and not as a slave to someone's percentages. If the football authorities cannot come to terms with that idea then one can only hope that the government will carry out its threat to step in and impose licensing for clubs throughout the game - with a serious commitment to fan involvement.

Excellent post mate and half the things you mention I wish I had mentioned in my recent "article" about Football blogging. The future of 2ndYellow sounds very exciting and I totally support it. Best of luck.

Can't argue with that. The choice has to be AF's because he's the one who'll have to justify it to himself. My fear is that if he bows to pressure it will be used as an acceptance of an apology by the JT camp.

Thanks Les. A more equivalent trip for Arundel would be Wembley, which is a possibility at this point. As you say, East Anglian clubs are used to dealing with this. Clubs in Sussex, and Kent, are not and therein lies a big difference. I suspect many clubs will simply opt out and drop to a lower level until such time as the FA draws up a similar proposal for step 6.

The plans aren't without advantages and in many ways make sense, but for clubs I grew up watching locally there are huge implications.

This is something that East Anglia has had to deal with for 90-odd years. Clubs such as Wroxham having to travel to the fringes of the M25 makes a one hour trip from Arundel to Weybridge (for example) a walk in the park in comparison. They'll survive and if they don't, they're not being managed properly financially.
