Maradona gets banned

Argentina have qualified for the 2010 World Cup the hard way, with a victory over Uruguay in their final match ensuring they took the 4th automatic spot.  When Maradona was appointed as their coach, we all knew it wouldn’t be dull, and now the embattled legend has been banned from all football activity for two months.

This was punishment handed down by Fifa after Maradona’s foul-mouthed tirade to reporters after the showdown in Montevideo.  He will miss the World Cup draw and a friendly international against Czech Republic, but his attendance at the World Cup itself will not be affected (unless he’s a naughty boy again).

Personally, I will be pleased to see Maradona in the dugout at the World Cup, for entertainment value at the very least, and it will be interesting to see how they perform.

What odds on them being drawn against England at some point?
