England's non league game is neglected by the media in favour of the "glamour" of a greedy, money-grasping and morally redundant Premier League. And yet, it thrives from Conference National to the regional leagues which make up the lower part of the pyramid. Small armies of die-hard supporters follow their teams rain or shine, and do far more than the glory hunters following from their armchairs and on the internet.
They edit programmes and websites, run club shops and snack bars, sponsor players and coaches, run fund-raising initiatives and do everything they can to keep contribute directly to their clubs, usually voluntarily.
The quality of football they receive in return might not be top standard, but it is far higher than it is given credit for. 2nd Yellow is a big supporter of the non league game - if you're a fan of a "top" club but disaffected and fed up with the circus which surrounds it, why not give your local semi-professional club a try?
