If you’ve got something to say about the ugly side of football then this is the place for you – now you can write for us! 2nd Yellow is interested in every level of football, from the Premier League and international football to the amateur game. Here are a few topics that you could write about:
- Diving & cheating;
- FIFA corruption;
- Dodgy finances;
- Fan behaviour.
And there’s plenty else besides. One thing we don’t cover is match reports and tactics – there are plenty of other sites who do this and do so better than we can. That’s not to say you can’t talk about matches but please do so within a wider context.
The benefits to you when you write for us include a platform to publish your writing and voice your opinions, to have your work read by the finest collection of blog readers that ever read, and the opportunity to promote your own website or social media profiles to boot.
All submissions will be edited before publication so please review the following writing guidelines:
Do
- Write in your own distinct style;
- Voice your opinions;
- Use humour;
- Credit and include links to relevant sources and images;
- Use sub-headings, bulleted lists, quotations and images;
- Supply your website URL and/or social media profile(s) for inclusion.
Don’t
- Copy the work of others – plagiarism will be checked for and will not be accepted;
- Be abusive – racism, discrimination of any kind or abuse dressed up as “banter” will not be accepted and will be defined according to the editor’s standards and not the writer’s;
- Use copyrighted imagery – select those which are available for use under a Creative Commons license or have express permission from the copyright holder. Or, supply your own. Sources of images must be provided, images supplied without sources will not be used;
- Include irrelevant, malicious or affiliate links – these will be removed;
- Be offended if your submission is not accepted.
What to do next
You’ve got a great idea, so now what? Rather than diving straight into writing, feel free to get in touch first with an outline of your post – we will contact you back as soon as possible (we do have day jobs though so please bear with us!).
Once you have written your article, please forward it to us in either Word (.docx, .doc) or plain text (.txt) formats and attach any images at the same time. Please don’t paste articles into the contact form, we will provide an email address for submission when we get back to you.
